Void by Bernhard Gál | 09:09
The title of this electro-acoustic composition, Void, can be taken quite literally, as a good portion of used audio materials come from the infinite expanse which is quite commonly referred to as outer space, or universe. Recordings of electromagnetic vibrations from Neptune, Uranus and Jupiter were collected during various NASA space missions and later on translated into audible sound. Additional sound sources include voice recordings by Bernhard Gal. These sound materials were ‘acoustically refined’ on the basis of astronomical data (orbital speeds, rotation periods, mass proportions), and used as a basis for improvised laptop performances, as well as the audiovisual fulldome project Sterngucker (i.e. stargazer).
